Here we are attempting to fly the free kite that we got in Dumbo.

Giacomo was mad though, he couldn't fly it, so he got mad at us when we tried to fly it!

Oh well, it was still fun trying!

A Dumbo Easter

On the Saturday before Easter, Dumbo was having a free! Easter celebration with an egg hunt, bands, face painting, all kinds of kids stuff. So I was just dying to go, because I LOVE Dumbo and thought it would be alot of fun! There were supposed to be 15,000 eggs hidden, so ofcourse we would fine atleast 1, right?! Well, we got there on time, but there were already 200 people on line waiting to get into the park! This is the problem with Free events in NYC!!! I should have known...

Well, we waited about 1/2 an hour on line, then when we got in all the eggs were gone :-( I was so sad, I really wanted Gicaomo to hunt for the eggs. So when we did get into the park, he saw there was a face painting booth, and he just had to have a dragon painted on his face, even if it meant stading online for an hour! And that is what we did. I kept trying to convince him not to get it, but he really wanted it, it was ridiculous. Surprise, surprise, by the time he got his face painted it was time to go! The festival was from 11-2, and it pretty much was 2:00 by the time he got his dragon.

On the walk back to the subway, we saw a lady walking a pig on a leash! That was the highlight of the trip for me! I never thought I'd see a pig as a pet in New York City?!?! And we got a free kite :-)

Lil' Haman!

Purim is like the Jewish Halloween. So Giacomo's school celebrated Purim last week in school and all the kids had to dress up. You could go as anything, a superhero - whatever you want. Or you could go as one of the charachters from the story of Purim, the girls usually go as Queen Esther, and the boys go as either the king or as Haman - the bad guy! And of course, Giacomo wanted to be the bad guy! He wanted to dress all in green, with a green triangular hat, a mustache, and mean eyes! So here he is! Lil' Haman...

First Rock Concert!

What a busy day Sunday was! After Alexander's party in the city, we had Giacomo's school's annual spring fundraiser concert featuring Music For Aardvarks. They're famous in the indie-kids music scene. We kinda had to go because each family was required to buy 3 tickets at $25 a pop, but I really wanted to go too because Dorian's been in the Aardvarks class all winter and we have the CD so Giacomo knows alot of the songs. In the beginning it was Rockin'! But then Giacomo got a little kooky because he was tired, afterall it was a long day already, and it was during Dorian's treasured nap time! Heavans! So we kinda didn't stay till the end...

Science Lab Party!

On Sunday we went to the 4th birthday party of another one of Giacomo's playgroup friends, Alexander. He had his party at a "science lab" in the city. The "lab" was actually in a 1-bedroom apartment on the 10th floor on a NYC high-rise apartment building! But the "science teacher" just rents the apartment and uses it for classes and parties! In what would be the master bedroom, were many cases filled with lizards, snakes, acquariums and terrariums. In the living room was where all the experiments took place. The kids got to make their own rockets and blasted them off, then they made volcanoes by pouring vinegar into baking powder, and then they had a dinosaur egg hunt. It was another great, original party!

Pizza Party!

Last Saturday we had the birthday party of Giacomo's playgroup friend Emma. He has been friends w/ Emma since he was about 5 months old! She had a fabulous party. They rented out part of a Pizzaria Uno Restaurant and all the kids got to make their own pizza's and placemats, then they cooked the pizza's for them and they got to eat their own creation. It was a great idea and at the end they played circle games like Duck Duck Goose and Ring around the Rosie.
