Playground ala Pizza

Here are some cute pics from a few weeks ago of Dorian and Giacomo's friend Amanda's little sister Abigail in the swing and ofcourse the best and easiest kids lunch ever...pizza!

I don't think I've ever eaten as much pizza in my entire life as I do now.

Lower East Side

Sunday we took a trip to visit Mr. & Mrs. Jonny & Amy in their new digs in the l.e.s. the top shot is the view from their living room! not bad.

Then we did a walking tour, saw the Essex Street Market, for those of you who don't know, its where former NYC Mayor LaGuardia made all the food vendors and pushcarts move inside off the streets, and its still in operation today. Fishmongers, produce sellers, butchers...you name it. It was fascinating, having never been there.

We also went to an abandoned such marketplace, and inside there was an art installation. You enter thru an abandoned Chinese reataurant then weave your way throughout all the abandoned cavernous rooms and hallways and wind up in a huge space with tons and tons of sand dumped in this huge extinct meat market. very cool. very l.e.s. ;-)

And finally we passed the Rockwood Music Hall where my friends boyfriend, Randall Shreve usually gigs (check him out on Myspace - he's awesome), but who was on the line-up tonight!? Dorian Spencer! I gotta check him out sometime!

Suffern Stylee

Here the cousins are all together for the first time. This is also the first time that My mom has seen Martha in 30 years! They used to really get along. It was a great family reunion.

Helping Parent

Here I am again as Helping Parent at Giacomo's pre-school. Since his school is a Cooperative, it works out that about twice a month we have to help out in the classroom. We have to bring the snack and just help out with art projects, read books to the kids, etc, and occasionally transform into a human chair - turns out that lots of kids like to sit on the helping parent too ;-)

The bottom shot I thought was cute, all of the kids jammed into an elevator.

Bay Ridge, Brooklyn

A day to remember. Aunt Martha, visiting from Israel, has not been back to the States in 30 years. She has not been back to house she was born and raisd in until she was 17, in 46 years!!! Its been her lifelong dream to return to that house! This is also the house that my dad was born and raised in and the house where my Grandpa Julian was raised in since he was 6 months old!! So we went there. In Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and we knoocked on the door and magic happenned! The lady who lives there let us in and let us explore the whole house! Martha saw her old bedroom! The same closet is still in there! It was a day you can't put a price on. The flower pots in the front of the house were her mother's (my Grandma Lilly's) original flowerpots! There is wood paneling in the dining room that my Great-Grandpa Sam had imported from Europe and its still there! That's actually what sold the new owners on the house! It was an amazing day.


Then we went to Aunt Martha's friends houses and their daughters were actually home! They knew of Aunt Martha from their mothers! They were so excited to see Martha too since their mothers had always told them about her:, "The little girl from down the road who moved to Israel when she was 18, and gave up everything for love and to live on a Kibbutz in the middle of the Negev Desert!" Her's really is quite an amazing story.


Then we went to the playground my dad and Martha used to go to when they were kids and its stil there, but new equipment obviously.


And I must say I had no idea how much of a beautiful area Bay Ridge is. Very upscale, with beautiful big homes, I felt Like I was in the 'burbs! Definily not what I envisioned Brooklyn to be like. And its so close to the city. Only about a 25 minute subway ride, on 1 train (the R), from 8th St / NYU - to Bay Ridge. Just incase you wanna move out there!

Cousins from Israel!

We just had a wild 10 days with the cousins visiting from Israel. Here are Giacomo and his 2nd cousin Gilli, who turns 4 next week. Even though they can't speak the same language, they had a great time with eachother. You can see in the last shot, however, that Giacomo has no clue what Gilli is going on about....but she's super cute, so he likes her :-)
