Face Painting!

When Giacomo had to stay home from school because of his sprained ankle, I had to come up with activities to keep the boys busy all day long! Here was their first activity, this was about 8:30 am.

Notice Dorian also painetd his teeth! It was a loooong day.

Croc Eaten by Escalator

Here's a pic of Giacomo's Croc Rainboot that got caught in an escalator at the mall last week! He's ok, he actually suffered a sprained ankle and had to miss a day of school, because a man had to literally rip his boot away from the jaws of the escalator to save Giacomo's foot from getting eaten by it! Thank god Giacomo wasn't hurt anymore.

Note to anyone & everyone: Don't wear Crocs on escalators!!

The Great Hill in Central Park

On this day we decided to do Central Park but from the top, instead of from the bottom (Columbus Circle) where we usually start. We took the subway to 110th St. and were delighted to discover an area called The Great Hill, a pasture which is, in fact, the highest point in the park. It's a beautiful spot with lots of trees, not too many people and just perfect for a picnic. This was that 90 degree day we had a few weeks ago, hence the topless boys. So to be at the highest point w/ a little breeze was nice.

Easter Sunday

We spent Easter in Suffern at Seda and Isla's house. What a perfect day for our 2nd Annual Bowler-Tunick Egg Hunt! Can't wait till next year!

Giacomo Turns 5 !!!

Giacomo had a Lego themed birthday party this year! He LOVES Lego's, ever since he got his first Lego set for his b-day last year, he plays with them everyday! He is obsessed with the little colorful bricks, can't put them down.

When it came time to planning his birthday party this year, I just happened to find out about a guy called The Legomaster, who actually teaches Lego Robotics at local colleges and high schools and also does kids birthday parties on the side! Basically, he showed up with 4 huge crates filled with thousands & thousands of Lego's. The kids were just in complete awe and built for about 2 solid hours. Someone said it was the quietest birthday party ever, because everyone was so mesmerized!

It was a huge success. We had his party on a beautiful day in the same park we have his party every year.

Of course, I had to replicate what I did for his 4th b-day interms of a cake, and had a mound of colorful donuts from DD's. That's always a huge hit.

And to end the Lego extravaganza, all the kids took home a little bag of Lego candies!

Turning 5 on Passover!

We celebrated Passover at Uncle Jonny and Aunt Amy's in the city this year, on Giacomo's actual birthday, April 9th. So he got a double whammy! He and Seda had so much fun looking for the Afikomen, but it was ultimately Giacomo who conquered all and found the tin-foil laden treasure!!

Jacob L's Birthday

We rented a Zipcar and zipped to the 'burbs for Giacomo's classmate Jacob L's 5th b-day party. When you live in the 'burbs you have toys that you can't have in a city! Like a trampoline and a Kiddie John Deere / toddler ATV /tractor! Dorian sat on that thing all day, even thought it wasn't moving! He loved it, because he loves tractors :-)

Home-made Ring-Flash

JP built a home-made ring-flash. It's a flash for the camera that's actually a ring / circle composed of 12 light bulbs that flash when you take a picture, unlike 1 flash on typical everyday cameras. It's what professionals & fashion photographers use.

Here are the first shots from his prototype.

Giacomo has cherry tomatoes stuffed in his cheeks in the top shot, that's why he looks like a chipmunk!

Battery Park City Art & Cutlure

We had a lovely day taking in all the parks, culture and public art that Battery Park has to offer. From the Jeff Koons awe-inspiring balloon sculpture to Tom Otterness's kooky peeps, topped off with some major sliding at Teardrop Park and ending the day with contorting street performers. Very fun!
