Swiss Hausfrau

today i had my good friend helen over with her son merlin. they're from switzerland! merlin is giacomo's little swiss friend here, it's so cute - they talk swiss-german to eachother!

today helen tought me how to make quiche and weya - which is a swiss pie w/out the top layer of pie crust - like a tort. it's jp's fave, and now I have some new foods to add to my culinary repertoire! we made 3 pies - the most baking i've ever done in my entire life! but i did pretty well i must say, those pies were finished in no time ;-)

check out merlin's neckace - i love it- its from switzerland, of course, and the beads represent something special about him: his zodiac, the exact day and time he was born - its beautiful - another amazing swiss thing you can't get here. (example: drool rags)!
