New & Improved Washington Square Park
Washington Square Park, in the heart of Greenwich Village, has undergone a complete face-lift, the whole park has been totally renovated, including the world famous fountain! Now it is safe for kids to play in! They put chlorine tablets in the water and apparently drain it each night.
Our plan yesterday was to get some new comics at the comic book store Forbidden Planet in Union Square and then to check out the new W.S.Park. Lucky for Giacomo, I brought his bathing suit and he had a great time for about an hour running around and around in the fountain. Dorian declined going in because he said that he didn't want to get wet, he was happy to just play in the playground. I can't wait to go back and have both of them play there again.
While Giacomo was frolicking in the fountain, I had a completely random celebrity encounter! Clad in his infamous orange Crocs, standing beside me with his family, was the one and only Mario Battali! (See bottom pic) We actually chatted a bit about the fountains in Paris vs. the fountains in New York and this 'n that, all in all a very nice man and a very nice day.
